Count Andrevar

In The Mad Mage of Sevendor, Count Andrevar is a Merwyni noble — cousin of Duke Andrastal and third in line to the coronet — who leads the Merwyni military incursion into Remere. When Minalan arranges a truce meeting, Andrevar proves to be a gracious gentleman who is not personally enthusiastic about the invasion and harbors deep dissatisfaction with his cousin's rule. Minalan offers him a treasury of irionite, snowstone, battlefield enchantments, and twenty thousand ounces of gold in exchange for pledging to overthrow Andrastal and establish himself as duke, withdraw all Merwyni troops immediately, and eventually conclude a stable treaty. Andrevar accepts and departs with five thousand additional mercenaries and the support of the Knights of Nablus, setting a Merwyni civil war in motion.

Count Andrevar of Cormeer is a stubborn and combative nobleman who leads a rebellion in Preceptor. A nephew of Duke Andrastal of Merwyn and married into House Daurat of Canrovira, he views every political situation as a contest of wills. His rebellion draws Minalan and the Marshal's forces into conflict, and his refusal to back down makes him a dangerous and persistent antagonist throughout the book.
