Footwizard
Iyugi ista Sundalthain β a half-breed footwizard shaman from a northern Wilderlands tribe β arrives at Sevendor uninvited and presents himself with booming grandiloquence as "most mysterious master of the mystic arts." He has long jet-black hair, wears a necklace of shells and bones, carries an impressive staff, and has a wolfish grin. He is exactly the disreputable, unregistered footwizard class the Censorate spent centuries hunting.
His real specialty, once the showmanship is peeled away, is extracting key pieces of information from unwitting or unwilling sources β a born intelligence officer. Minalan grants him a witchstone (one of the seven Alka-crafted Spellmonger's spheres) and swears him to service. The Censorate can complain all they like.
Iyugi operates as Minalan's magical spy and intelligence officer across the kingdom. He reports on the two-thirds of Moros barons opposed to Dranus and identifies the three key swing-barons. He shadows Prince Tavard's party from Sendaria Port, providing hourly updates on the retinue, on Tavard's troubled marriage to Princess Armandra, and on the disappointing fundraising tour (pledges for less than half of the gold Tavard wanted).
This book also confirms him as one of the Spellmonger's Seven β holders of the seven Alka-crafted irionite spheres, alongside Tyndal, Rondal, and Gareth. Iyugi is, quietly, one of the most powerful magi Minalan has on his personal payroll.
A singular passing mention. Iyugi is still working in the shadows for Minalan, his Seven-stone and his wolfish grin both intact.
