Physician, Sorceress, Council Advocate
Named as one of the Scholars of the Olum Seheri raid β the Alka Alon physician-scientist whose knowledge of human medicine, Vundel biology, and pre-Inundation technology makes her indispensable. Performs post-raid medical care for the wounded.
Consults on Minalan's Shakathet-campaign medical logistics and advises on the Nemovort interrogation methodology.
Manages Wenek's three-month amputee recovery at Henga General Hospital:
That man plagues me and my staff more than anyone else in our care!
Plans to fit him with a proper magical prosthetic rather than a peg.
At Carneduin: still the most outspoken Alka Alon ally of humanity. "I have my sources. Henga Hospital is near to the gurvani lands. I keep my ears open and think critically. It also helps that I took an actual interest in gurvani psychology over the years." Argues for Tal Alon autonomy ("Alka Alon guidance about such things has always been designed to keep the other Alon weak, disorganized, and dependent on the Council for their existence") and defends the memory of Gurvos (the ancient gurvani liberator). Brings clinical realism about Sheruel: he is now brain-damaged, his neural pathways calcified by the irionite process, unable to be persuaded.
Elder Tera Alon, healer, scholar, and one of the series' great long-lived rebels. The Golden Goblin's whole plot is set in motion by her sudden disappearance from her workshops at Henga Hospital and by the single line of parchment found in her discarded rubbish: KURTZ STATION -- ADRIAN -- DANGER.
She is revealed in this book to be Adrian's mother and the patron of Igor, whom she introduces as Adrian's "companion -- majordomo -- therapist -- court jester." Her post-Anghysbel alien memories give her the genetic understanding she uses, with a device Minalan supplies, to transform Carmella into a Malkas Alon so Carmella can marry Rumel -- which she boasts about openly as both a technical triumph and an act of "vision."
She is also the one who finally sends Ithalia after Ameras to open the Waypoint at the book's climax.

At Carneduin, the outspoken Alka Alon ally of humanity and advocate for the other Alon kindreds. Her reading of Sheruel's brain damage is clinically devastating.
