Moudrost Dryspeaker

Seamage in Hiding

Thaumaturge

Moudrost's first on-page appearance. Minalan "wasn't expecting to come home after a hard day's work overseeing the construction of Vanador and its various defenses and see a seamage sitting in my hall, but that's what happened. Moudrost, Dryspeaker for the Sau'libik pod of the Leviathan Kyrinsik was waiting for me in the great hall of my townhome one day in late summer, drinking milk and eating biscuits with Brother Bryte, much to my surprise."

"Good day to you, Moudrost Dryspeaker," Minalan says, "I was wondering when you would show up." Moudrost is amused:

You understand that, should they desire, the Vundel can just take all of the snowstone without your consent?

Begins the Vundel-snowstone negotiations that will reshape much of the next several books.

Arcanist

Continues Vundel negotiations. "Moudrost said that we're moving into some sort of dark region, or light region, or something. And that we had three thousand years. And that the Vundel are panicking about it. All magic will fade." The Withering Light deadline is established here via his reports.

The Mad Mage of Sevendor

Book 14.5 Mad Mage arc: reconnection scene. Moudrost is the Seamage Vundel-liaison who previously visited Minalan in Book 11 and now returns to continue Vundel negotiations. "Shaken by discovery of the Celestial Mother's egg." Father of Ruderal β€” a fact he acknowledges during this period. Reconciles with Ruderal and his long-estranged wife Chaterny over pastries.

Marshal Arcane

Returns to oversee further Vundel negotiations. His reunion with Ruderal, who has only just learned Moudrost is his father, begins here with pastry-outings involving Ruderal's mother Chaterny.

Practical Adept

Moudrost is now deliberately hiding from both his former Vundel masters and everyone else. Minalan to Ruderal says:

Moudrost is a veteran Seamage, and he doesn't want to be found, by anyone. I'm not particularly familiar with the magic of the Vundel, but I would guess that they have some fairly potent spells for that sort of thing. If Moudrost is smart and wants to evade his former masters, he's probably employing every trick he knows to hide.

Ruderal tries "all the regular ways of finding someone with Imperial magic" and still gets nothing. Minalan had demanded the Seamagi stop their pursuit of their former brother, but they didn't necessarily stop looking.
