Knight Banneret, Lord of Trestendor
Sire Sigalan is the poor lord of Trestendor on the other side of the West Flerian gap; his holding is "smaller than Sevendor." He has lost Ferrendor Village and Gosset to Lord Trefalan of Sashtalia and Sire Gimbal (the Warbird) of West Fleria in a two-generation pattern of losses. Sir Cei suggests him as Minalan's first alliance candidate, and Minalan courts him at the Chepstan Fair. Comes with a small retinue including his sister Sarsha. "A knight likes to keep his lance sharp," he says. Minalan helps him win back Gosset. Brokers a marriage between his sister Sarsha and Sir Roncil.
Now a secure ally. Minalan gifts him a Mirror array directly tied to Sevendor. His yeomen have hundreds of the Wilderland longbows and are training intensively. He resists Baron Arathanial's pressure to become his vassal:
Sigalan was no baron β technically he was a knight banneret, but he had little desire to add to his demesne or join the peerage.
The restored village of Gosset is thriving and his lourdin mine "near his hilltop stronghold" provides steady income.
Attends the Prince's Pilgrimage at Sevendor as a courtesy peer, banters with Minalan, drinks. Acknowledges uncomfortably: "Sarsha always suffered from a lusty manner." Goes through the marriage negotiations with Sir Ryff.
Parallel to Arathanial, gives Minalan the same polite refusal:
I made as much an offer to Sire Sigalan. He gave me the same answer β said he was still recovering his lost domains.
