Town · Barony of Sevendor
The bustling chartered town below Sevendor Castle — a boomtown of enchanters, artisans, and ambitious burghers born of the Snowstone.
Sevendor Town is the chartered municipality in the valley below Sevendor Castle, within the Barony (later County) of Sevendor. Before Minalan became its magelord, the settlement at the foot of the castle was a struggling village of hungry peasants. The transformation of the domain by the Snowstone, and the arrival of Bovali settlers, footwizards, and enchanters, turned it into one of the fastest-growing towns in the kingdom.
The town is governed by a Town Council of artisans, shopkeepers, and burghers, with Banamor, Sevendor's Spellwarden, as its dominant political figure. Banamor engineered the purchase of a formal Town Charter from Minalan, converting feudal dues into a simple cash payment and suspending the old obligations of merchet (marriage fee) and heriot (inheritance render). The charter, redrafted after Minalan was raised to baron and then count, granted the burghers significant self-government, a mayor, and a small council with powers usually reserved to a lord.
Sevendor Town is famous for the Sevendor Magic Fair, the greatest enchanters' market in the kingdom, which draws magi, merchants, and scholars from every duchy. The fair eventually grew so large that it began to crowd out the smaller footwizards and hedgewitches, prompting the establishment of the rival Robinwing convention. The town also hosts the first great workshop district of the Bouleuterion's enchanters, and its streets are walked by Karshak stonewrights, Bovali refugees turned burghers, and the occasional visiting dignitary from Castabriel.
