Impossibly ancient beings of dual consciousness — 4th generation of life in the universe
Aza'Methet's people represent what is described as the "4th generation" of beings to arise in the universe — incomprehensibly ancient even by the standards of the Yith. They possess a dual consciousness: two minds cohabiting a single being, each aware of and complementary to the other. This bifurcated awareness allows them to perceive and manipulate dimensions of reality that single-minded beings cannot even detect.
Once numerous across the cosmos, their kind were hunted nearly to extinction by unknown forces or adversaries in the deep past. Aza'Methet is among the last survivors of her people, and she carries the weight of her species' near-annihilation in every interaction. Her kind's existence is known to almost no one on Callidore.
Their relationship to conventional magic is complex — they operate on levels of reality that precede what Callidore's mages understand as the magical spectrum. Aza'Methet herself served as one of Lilastien's Yith memory hosts, suggesting that even the Yith found her people's consciousness worth preserving in their archives.
They communicate and interact in ways that are fundamentally alien to most beings, and their perspective on existence, time, and purpose does not map cleanly onto any framework familiar to humans or even the long-lived Alka Alon.
