Farastamari

The Farastamari are the scholars of the Alka Alon — the smallest and most reclusive of the Kindreds that emigrated to Callidore. They strive to learn and understand every aspect of the universe, and their communities function more as research retreats than political courts. They know the Songs of lore and learning, which grant them powers of memory, preservation, and linguistic comprehension unmatched by any other Kindred.

Where the Versaroti build and the Avalanti grow, the Farastamari record. The great libraries and sealed archives of the Alka Alon are largely their work, and their membership on the Alka Alon Council is modest but extremely well-informed — Farastamari councillors are listened to when matters of history and precedent come up. They tend to keep to themselves; a typical Farastamari settlement contains fewer Alka Alon than a single Avalanti village.
