Hulka Alon

The Hulka Alon, known to most humans simply as trolls, are massive beings who dwell primarily in the Great Valley of the North and other remote regions of Callidore. Despite their fearsome reputation, they are Alon — the phrase "all were Alon once" captures the understanding that the Hulka Alon represent an Alon people who grew massive and terrible over long ages.

They were numbered among the forces that served Sheruel the Dead God during the great Gurvani invasion, their size and strength making them devastating on the battlefield. However, like other Alon peoples, their relationship with the conflict was shaped by forces beyond simple aggression — the Alon network and its corruptions played a role in what forces could be turned to dark purposes.

In their natural state, the Hulka Alon inhabit the deep valleys and wild places, largely avoiding interaction with smaller peoples. Their intelligence and inner lives are poorly understood by humans, who typically encounter them only as enemies in war.
