Paranchek

The Paranchek are an arachnoid species — spider-like in their physical form — bred as soldiers by the Orion Empire in ages long past. Their biology is extraordinary: they possess a bifurcated nervous system, meaning they have two distinct neurological centers. This dual nature manifests in two types of Paranchek: the ormex, which are the warrior-soldiers optimized for combat, and the full-adult form, which retains genuine intelligence and complexity.

The ormex soldiers are the form most likely to be encountered in war — driven, aggressive, and physically formidable. The intelligent adult form represents the full expression of Paranchek potential, though this form is rarely seen outside their own communities.

Created as tools of war by the Orion Empire, the Paranchek's history is one of exploitation and servitude to powers greater than themselves. What became of them after the fall of the Orion Empire's influence is not fully known, but the legacy of their creation as soldier-slaves shapes how they are understood — and how they understand themselves.
