Divine beings created from human collective subconscious via divine magic
The Gods of Callidore are not external creators or imported powers — they are, remarkably, creations of humanity itself. They arose from the collective human subconscious, shaped by shared belief, fear, hope, and worship into actual divine beings capable of acting in the world. Divine magic — the form of magic unique to humanity — is both the medium through which the Gods were born and the source of their ongoing power.
There are three recognized types of divine beings on Callidore: elemental gods tied to fundamental forces of nature, culturally-derived gods who embody specific human traditions and peoples, and the Primal Divinities — the oldest and most powerful, shaped by the deepest and most universal aspects of human nature.
The Gods' dependence on human belief and divine magic means their existence is intimately tied to humanity's fate. As humans spread across Callidore and their divine magic matured, the Gods became more powerful and more real. The transformation of Callidore's magical environment following the Snowstone spell raised profound questions about what changes might occur in the nature of divine beings as well.
Unlike the Alon or Vundel who are physical beings with physical histories, the Gods occupy a unique metaphysical category — real enough to act, speak, and grant power to their priests, yet fundamentally dependent on the consciousness of the beings who gave them life.
