The Allaran Stone is one of a series of specialised magical stones Minalan discovers embedded in the living rock of Sevendor mountain, alongside and below the Snowflake itself. The Allaran Stone, the Library Stones, and several other Alka-origin artefacts share the property of being ancient, purpose-built, and vastly more capable than anything Sevendori enchanters could produce on their own.
Its specific function is a specialised scrying and perception enhancement — one of the many arcane facilities the builders of the Snowflake lattice laid into the mountain when they seeded the original molopor with snowstone. Minalan brings it into his workshop among the other named stones of Sevendor, each of which unlocks a particular corner of the mountain's hidden capability.
