The greater of the two paired scrying mirrors held by the Ducal court at Castabriel and the Magelaw's court at Vanador, a permanent live channel between thrones.
The Ducal Mirror is the larger of the two paired scrying mirrors that the Bouleuterion produced for the kingdom's diplomatic working. The greater plate hangs in the Castabriel ducal palace; its twin sits in the Vanador chancery. Either can be opened by the keying of a small witchstone fitted into the frame, at which point the two surfaces become a single live window and the two thrones can speak face to face.
The mirror reshaped Castali politics in a single year. Council letters that had taken weeks could now be settled before lunch, ducal envoys lost half their leverage, and the rebel south, accustomed to slow communications, was always a step behind. King Rard pretends he disapproves of the device and consults it three times a day.
