Wand
Magelord Dranus's flagship weapon-wand: a deadly enchanted rod designed for warmagi defending magelord domains. Each Rod can be wielded by anyone with even minor Talent and is reckoned worth roughly a company of infantry. Mass-produced in Sevendor's bouleuterion under Dranus's irionite empowerment.
Sentry Rods are the flagship weapon-wand class developed by Magelord Dranus during his Sevendor tenure as Court Wizard. Each Rod is a deadly enchanted weapon designed for warmage-grade defenders of magelord domains: portable, requiring only minor Talent to operate, and reckoned worth roughly a company of conventional infantry per rod.
The Rod is a fixed-length ornamented wand of weirwood or similar substrate, with the standard enchantment-stack hung along its length. The integrated package includes:
The Rods are empowered by an irionite shard during construction, drawing on the Sevendor enchanters' irionite stockpile and Dranus's personal sphere during empowerment. Operation by a Talented wielder thereafter does not require the wielder to have their own irionite.
Sentry Rods are mass-produced in Sevendor's bouleuterion (the dedicated enchanters' workshop). Dranus originally ordered thirty for his own Moros campaign, but the design caught on and Sentry Rods are now standard equipment for Magelaw and Sevendor garrisons. The Tudry, Megelin, and Vanador armouries all carry Rods in stock.
Sentry Rods feature in most late-saga combat operations. Pentandra's palace-guard warmagi at Falas carry them; the Magelaw cavalry charges at Olum Seheri include Rod-armed units; the Darkfaller relief force used Rods extensively in the keep assaults.
