Master Bartharis is the bald, middle-aged, mild-mannered head of the Farise branch of IRIS — the Internal Research & Intelligence Service, a surviving agency from the Colonial era. He is not a mage but is a professional intelligence operative who provides Minalan with institutional knowledge of Farisian spy networks and contacts. His calm demeanor belies the weight of his responsibilities.
