Introduced as Censor Landrik — one of two Censors summoned by Duke Lenguin to threaten Minalan when the Spellmonger arrives in Vorone. Minalan flips him:

Censor Landrik, you know the Bans have been suspended in Castal.

Two Censors against nine warmagi — Landrik reads the room and defects. His counterpart Captain Farentine spits "Traitor," but Landrik just shrugs.

From that moment Landrik is a devoted Minalan-loyalist. Joins Terleman's command group at the Timberwatch barn; works on nasty offensive spells with Horka; fights among the ten thousand cavalry with Azar and Horka; on Lenguin's reckless night charge against the trolls, Landrik stands "on his dignity and the responsibility of a soldier to follow orders." After the cavalry is torn apart, he and two dozen Megelini knights join Azar's flanking attack that turns the troll position.
