Magical Order
An ancient secret magical society descended from the Imperial Collegium of Magi — the Princes Elector of the Archmage. Banned by the Dukes after the Conquest, it survived in a handful of old Imperial families.
The Order of the Secret Tower was originally known as the Imperial Collegium of Magi — the Princes Elector of the Archmage, the supreme advisory body of the pre-Conquest Magocracy. When the Narasi Dukes carved up the Empire they banned the Collegium outright, and for nearly a hundred years membership was punishable by death.
The Order survived by going underground, kept alive within a small number of old Imperial families — including House Benurviel, the family of Pentandra. For four centuries it maintained a quiet existence: preserving ancient magical techniques, watching political developments, and waiting. An Inner Council oversees the Order's affairs. In Sevendor, the Order maintains an elegant Remeran-styled mansion on Mage's Row. Its true nature is an open secret among the powerful; one lord quipped that it should be called "the Order of the Not-So-Secret Tower."
