Terleman Nationality Unverified

Character ยท Open

No book passage establishes Terleman as Castali. The reviewer's recollection of a coastal or Farisen connection appears to stem from the Farisian Campaign setting, not a stated origin.

The character database lists Terleman's nation as Castal, but a thorough search of all books finds no passage that identifies him as Castali by birth or origin.

In Spellmonger (Book 1), his introduction reads only:

Terleman, of course, I knew from the Long March down the Farisian peninsula. Good mage. Good war captain. No fashion sense.Minalan, Spellmonger

This places him in the Farisian Campaign (a coastal peninsula), but describes where they served together โ€” not where Terleman is from. No other warmagi introduced in the same scene are ever placed in Castal.

In Court Wizard (Book 8), Terleman himself frames Castal as a foreign destination for mercenary work rather than a homeland:

It's either that or go play mercenary in Castali or Remeran dynastic wars. Talk about boring . . .Terleman, Court Wizard

This framing โ€” Castal alongside Remere as external alternatives โ€” argues against Castali origin. His post-treaty estate was purchased in Gilmora, and his formal titles (Viscount of Spellgate, Marshal of Alshar) were acquired through Anguin's patronage, not inherited. The reviewer's intuition about a coastal mention is most plausibly explained by the Farisian peninsula's coastal geography, not a statement of nationality.

Recommended action: clear or correct the nation field on Terleman's character record. Gilmoran or unspecified is better supported by available text.
