Staff
The second signature warmage weapon — long fighting staves with hoxter pockets, sympathy stones, and spell reservoirs built into the wood.
Magestaves (or battlestaves) are the other classic warmage weapon — tall hardwood staves, usually shod in metal, built up over years by their owners into a portable arsenal of enchantments. A well-made magestaff carries hoxter pockets for spare weapons and supplies, sympathy stones for mirror-communication, a reservoir of prepared spells, and often a hardened spearhead or hammer-head at the tip. Unlike a mageblade, a staff is a mage's house: everything they need short of the clothes on their back can live inside the wood.
Minalan's original battlestaff is his core weapon through the early books; Dranus of Moros packs his entire laboratory into hoxter pockets in a new warstaff when he departs for Moros in Enchanter. In Arcanist, Master Cormoran fights on the walls of Yellin leaning on his heavy battlestaff, "hoarse from countless hours in the smoke of his forge."
