City · The Wilderlands
The battered walled city of the northern Wilderlands — saved from gurvani siege and reborn as a forge-town of the Magelaw.
Tudry is a chartered town of the northern Alshari Wilderlands, sitting astride the trade roads that link Vorone to the far northern fiefs. Historically it was a free town under the Barony of Megelin, with its own council, militia, and walls, and a reputation for stubborn independence, surly Wilderfolk, and drinking songs concerning the proclivities of its whores. In peacetime Tudry was a modest market city; in war it became one of the most important strongpoints in the north.
During the gurvani invasion, Tudry was besieged by some ten thousand goblins, with refugees from Farenrose and the fallen western fiefs streaming into its walls. Astyral was sent ahead to work on the Tudrymen's council and militia, and Minalan and his Warmagi fought the great relief battle that broke the siege. Afterward Tudry became the Warmagi's forward base against the gurvani in the region, and the town of Tudrytown was home to Master Cormoran's workshop, where many of the finest early mageblades were forged.
In the later wars, the Tudrymen emigrated en masse to the new city of Vanador, bringing their tools, trades, and surly civic spirit with them; they provided the labour and experienced townsfolk that transformed Vanador from a refugee camp into a real municipality. Tudry itself remains a working city of the Wilderlands under Duke Anguin's authority, albeit diminished from its wartime prominence.
