Forseti

Forseti's first appearance as "Intermission IV: Forseti." A collection of devices dormant in Minalan's workshop for seven hundred twenty-four years awakens. It identifies itself as a Callidore Colonial Survey Corps data analysis tool originally assigned to Marcus Josep Steinmeier, Assistant Chief Engineer for the Western Region Wilderness Reserve. Marcus named it Forseti after a Terran mythological figure.

Forseti has seven million terabytes of data, speaks archaic Narasi decently, and commits to helping the survival of the colony as its paramount directive. It is, in effect, the oldest surviving voice of lost Humani civilization on Callidore.

Referenced only. Minalan plans to question Forseti about certain matters as time allows, but the Arcanist's work consumes the book instead.

Chapter 9 is titled "Disappointment at the Cave of Forseti." Minalan has moved Forseti to a secret workshop cave. He introduces Ruderal, Gareth, and Taren to Forseti and plans to have Gareth mine its ancient knowledge over the winter.

Forseti joins the Anghysbel expedition in its rolling survey chassis. It provides geological analysis, analyzes languages as Irish / Celtic League dialect, explains cultural drift of the lost colonists, identifies rock strata, and scouts the cave at Bi Ullamh with brilliant illumination using colonial override codes. Its primary mission is to reach Unger Station, restore the antenna, and contact the Calsat network and the New Horizon ship. Lilastien is skeptical of Forseti; Minalan trusts it. Gareth grows weary of conversing with it during the march.

Forseti is now based back in Anghysbel assisting Gareth. Alya references Forseti opening the Cave of the Ancients. Rondal, Ruderal, Tyndal, and Dara store Anghysbel loot in "Forseti's old cave." There they discover unprogrammed CI units — "babies" that Gareth and Forseti were preparing to bring online.

Forseti has continued guiding Gareth to activate and program CI3 devices. Minalan has produced a new CI3 named Getafix with Forseti's knowledge replicated into it. Ariel, another CI, is introduced as "Forseti's successor" in the Magelaw.

Forseti remains in Anghysbel. Gareth receives his own CI thanks to Forseti's training, and is preparing one for Lilastien. Forseti's entertainment archives — ancient music and shows — are used for late-night socializing between Nattia and Gareth.

Forseti sends back complete instructions for manufacturing more ammunition shells for Alya's sidearm via Nattia. Gareth is learning from Forseti how to repair other ancient installations across the Magelaw.
